room2 Belfast Hometel, Public Areas
Northern Ireland’s first hometel is made up of 175 rooms, four collaborative event spaces, a trendy restaurant and bar, a delightful tea room and a welcoming lobby. room2 are fully committed to creating environments that have a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of all their visitors, employees and our planet. Their Belfast hometel runs on 100% electric and low carbon renewable energy and has a zero waste to landfill policy.
Dodds & Shute were thrilled to partner with room2 on the procurement of their latest hometel. We understand and share with Room2 the same passion for responsible and conscious decision making which has led us on a fascinating journey. Together we identified British makers for the supply of key pieces like sofas and headboards throughout the hotel, these UK makers work closely with recycling partners to ensure all production leftovers are recycled or sent to waste to energy schemes ensuring a zero landfill policy.
Unique products were identified from British artisans and sustainable European manufacturers were identified in Sweden and Belgium. Second hand items have been used throughout to minimise the reliance on new products and reduce the hometels carbon impact and waste material has been innovatively used to create new products. It was an incredibly ambitious vision which has culminated in an unique place to experience.
