Our Trip to Maison&Objet
Return to JournalJanuary saw Dodds & Shute travel to Maison&Objet in Paris. The fair was originally intended to exhibit accessories and decorations that catered for local specifiers and buyers. However, as it garnered a reputation for luxury lifestyle and unique taste it became one of the main attractions on the global Design fair circuit. This attracted the interest of more contemporary international exhibitors and has resulted in the fair exhibiting an incredibly diverse portfolio throughout 8 halls.
Halls 1-4 are Maison, named Eclectic, Cost & Elegant these halls cater mostly for the more traditional end of the market and include decorative objects, small accent pieces, lighting, fabrics and furniture. Halls 5-6 are Objet and exhibit gadgets, utensils, perfume & fashion accessories aimed at retail buyers. Halls 7-8 contained the exhibitors exploring new techniques, concepts and bold, functional furniture. It was these contemporary manufacturers that we were here to see and our pick of the best can be seen below.
