Confidence through compliance: ensuring ethical, transparent supply chains.

We monitor suppliers’ practices through our
Sustainability Audit and Supplier Code of Conduct.
Our aim is to source the most sustainable products,
and help our clients make selections aligned with their
values. We achieve this through truly understanding
how products are made, from what and by whom.
Supplier Sustainability Audit
In 2018, we launched a comprehensive audit of our suppliers, and have now gathered detailed information on over 150 companies.
This robust supplier impact measurement and reporting tool provides unparalleled data and allows us to communicate the sustainability performance of all products. This level of transparency and accountability means brands and products can be compared against a consistent framework.

What Our Audit Covers

Production
We examine the processes behind how a product is made. The country in which a business is registered is important particularly in relation to where production actually takes place. We also assess how the manufacturer operates, looking closely at energy use, waste management, and packaging policies.

Innovation
We highlight companies that are using innovative materials or developing sustainable products and technologies that set a positive example for the wider industry. This also includes those offering thoughtful end-of-life schemes that support circular, responsible design.

People
We assess how suppliers protect and respect the people within their supply chain, including their compliance with the Modern Slavery Act and their active oversight of downstream partners. We also consider the positive impact they have on their local economy.

Materials
Materials sit at the heart of a supplier’s environmental
impact and are a key indicator within recognised
sustainability certifications. We also assess where
materials come from (favouring local sourcing) and how
thoughtfully each product is designed for its full life cycle
, including responsible end-of-life outcomes.

Governance
Sustainable governance is demonstrated through the presence of clear policies or reports. Certifications held by each supplier also offer insight into their sustainability credentials and the actions they are taking to reduce their environmental impact.

Sustainability Rating System
We've developed a sustainability rating system based on the results
of our Supplier Sustainability Audit.
Our icons indicate how the manufacturers we’ve worked with have scored, so that anyone can understand the sustainable status of each company.
The Leaf means the company scores 70-79%; the Branch means the company scores 80-89%; and the Tree means company scored in the top-tier with 90-100%.

Code of Conduct

No matter how suppliers score on our audit, our Supplier Code of Conduct sets minimum requirements for all key suppliers in order to work with us.
This helps us ensure we only work with companies following good business practices, for example those adhering to laws, and following the UN Global Compact Principles.
Responsible Sourcing
We help clients find and select the best products, guided by our criteria for responsible materials and processes.
Every project we support is backed by thoughtful, sustainable design that works beautifully and responsibly.
In our vision, there is no place for harmful materials and processes that are commonplace in our industry.
We strive to only actively promote products that are leaders in sustainability.
