Goldfinger Factory
Return to JournalIn early November we met the inspirational Oliver and Marie of Goldfinger Factory. They are an award-winning design, build and teaching platform centred around upcycling that creates bespoke furniture and interiors, whilst helping artisans and artisans-in-the-making become self-sustaining through craft and in turn saving materials from landfill.
Located on the ground floor of the iconic grade-II listed Trellick Tower in London's joint most deprived ward, Goldfinger Factory combines a furniture showroom and a café space on one floor and a woodworking workshop and teaching academy underneath.
Their philosophy is something that should be celebrated, based around empowering communities to transform lives through craftsmanship and design. They provide skills training and assist people in gaining or returning to employment as well as offering designers, makers and craftspeople a platform to develop and sell bespoke furniture and interiors.
Without their hard work and social enterprise their team of local artisans would otherwise struggle to make ends meet, instead they are provided with a platform to be self-sustainable by providing them with access to workshop facilities. In return they train local people in the community and give them much needed skills to increase their employability.
Their story is one of the most exciting we have come across in the industry and we can’t wait to collaborate with them on a future furniture collection.
