Our Trip to Maison&Objet

Return to Journal

January saw Dodds & Shute travel to Maison&Objet in Paris. The fair was originally intended to exhibit accessories and decorations that catered for local specifiers and buyers. However, as it garnered a reputation for luxury lifestyle and unique taste it became one of the main attractions on the global Design fair circuit. This attracted the interest of more contemporary international exhibitors and has resulted in the fair exhibiting an incredibly diverse portfolio throughout 8 halls.

Halls 1-4 are Maison, named Eclectic, Cost & Elegant these halls cater mostly for the more traditional end of the market and include decorative objects, small accent pieces, lighting, fabrics and furniture. Halls 5-6 are Objet and exhibit gadgets, utensils, perfume & fashion accessories aimed at retail buyers. Halls 7-8 contained the exhibitors exploring new techniques, concepts and bold, functional furniture. It was these contemporary manufacturers that we were here to see and our pick of the best can be seen below.

Plinto table by Meridiani.Mesa collection by Heerenhuis.Randacci mirror, Grand Piano sofa & Grossman dresser by Gubi.Brick table and InOut chair by Gervasoni.True Colour vase, Inbetween chair & Inbetween table by &Tradition.Mantis ceiling light by DCW Editions.Lighting collection by Le Deun Luminaires.Ren collection by Stellarworks.
