&Tradition kindly invited us to go and see their new showroom housed in a transformed 16,000 sq metre warehouse on Paper Island in Copenhagen’s harbour. Historically used for the storage of paper for Copenhagen’s daily newspaper it reflects how the region is fast transforming from an industrial landscape into an area for creative individuals and companies.

The space has been designed by Norm Architects who stripped it back to expose beautiful wooden roof gables with concrete and resin floors creating a wonderfully smooth matte surface. Norm have built a cluster of twelve minimalist houses in the centre of the building to form a cluster reminiscent of a village with streets, alleys and an open square. This provides an office for &Tradition as well as a unique opportunity to display their entire collection and show how their products work together in a theatrical and sensory setting.

The new vase range created by Dutch designer Lex Pott looked amazing and we are confident that the pieces will be a big success, however our favourites are still the Fly Sofa and Armchair designed by SPACE Copenhagen a multi-disciplinary design studio who have produced some of the finest products and spaces in recent memory. We also got to see a sneak preview of some new pieces being launched this year and everyone is in for a treat!

Tragically this incredible space will only exist in its current form for the next 5 years when it will then be knocked down to make way for a new development of luxury flats. We felt incredibly privileged to have had the opportunity to visit and absolutely recommend anybody else do the same whilst they can!
